Recessed lighting placement

I'm struggling with where I want to put my recessed lighting in the kitchen and I only have 2 DAYS TO DECIDE!!!!

Yikes..

Currently I'm leaning towards putting up 5 lights: 2 on the side with the sink (one above the sink is on a seperate switch) and 2 on the opposite side with the range, then the 5th one on the south wall in front of that window. They are 50w halogen.

Here is a copy of my floor plan, ANY suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance ; )

I think you'll find that five 50w bulbs in a kitchen that size aren't enough for general lighting. What other light sources will you have, besides the window? Will there be some sort of central fixture? Undercabinet lighting?

Totally agree with Jon1270! Even though GE's 50W halogen long-neck floods Par-30L ($8/bulb and hard to find!) are the brightest FIFTY-watters I've found, for your kitchen size that won't be enough if that (plus the over sink one) is the only source of general lighting you have.

I have 3 cans on two 11-ft walls (5 cans total in an "L" shape) plus an over-sink 50W can at point of a center can but directly over sink. Additionally, a 150W halogen quartz fixture over eat area. Would have liked more but split dimmer supports 300/300=600 only.

Sorry couldn't find my post. Electrician STILL hasn't shown up!!!!
There is a light in the center of the U shape of the kitchen and another (currently a fan with lights) between the sliding door and LR entry, where our table "somewhat" sits.
I'm unsure about the placement.....I would like two on the sink side, spaced equally apart from the light over the sink but then they won't be even for work lighting on the fridge/range side!!!! And the darn pantry gets in the way too. I don't know if I should place 3 on the range side and forget the one near my other window. I want them to look good as well as be useful. It bothers me when things are symmetrical to my eye : ( Help!

I know I replied to this again, but it seems to have gone awry somehow. It would help to know what size cans you're intending to use, as the can size will limit the choice of bulbs, which in turn may determine appropriate spacing.

I have a set of 5 (3 1/2")brushed nickel pot lights that are 50w Par 20. I've attached a link showing the dimensions.
There is a light (hopefully pendant) over the sink and another in the middle of the kitchen area. There is another in dining area, currently a ceiling fan with lights.
I guess I'm looking more for ambience and a bit of useful lighting in the evening for coffee or a drink.
Here is an updated floor plan also.
