Finally, my finished kitchen

Our kitchen remodeling was finally completed last week. It started as a fairly "simple" kitchen renovation project - no major configuration change. In the begining our GC told us that it should take about 3 weeks. Well, he was right if we just count the days when contractors worked in my house. It actualy took 7 weeks on calendar, for Oct 18 to Dec 3. I am not complaining about my GC, because some of the issues were out of his control. It took us 2 and half weeks waiting for countertop company to come in for the installation. There was also a big "goof off" by the tile company; we were told the backsplash tiles we ordered were "out of stock" on the day the tiles were supposed to be delivered, so we ended up changing our backsplash tiles at the very last minute. But in the end, the kitchen turned out very nice, and I really enjoy it. Thanks everyone who answered my queries, who shared their ideas, and who posted their remodeling experiences and finished kitchen photos on this forum which have helped me a lot.

here is a picture of my kitchen:

I really really really like your glass cabinet! And I like the flooring, and the colors of the cabinets. Do you LOVE IT??? I cannot wait until I have a beautiful kitchen :)

your pics aren't showing up for me. it says I can search thru the BILLIONS of photos on there but I don't want to!

    lol!

Congratulations on your beautiful reno! I love your cabs, hardware, BS, and marble! You've created a very warm and welcoming space; I'm sure you'll enjoy the holidays in your new kitchen. Please share the details!

Wow - such rich and glossy colors/surfaces! Makes me want a chocolate bar! :) Very classy - I can't believe you pulled it off in only 7 weeks, frankly! You don't EVEN wanna know how long mine's been worked on for how LITTLE work compared to you! I only wish mine could be delayed by such a short amount of time - hahaha - I think you got a little miracle there! Beautiful job...

Your backsplash looks great! Flows perfectly with the counter and wood. Also, love the pass through area. Is that to your family room? How handy- plus you were able to maintain counter space and open up the room.

Congratulations on having a new kitchen for the Holidays! Your link worked for me. What is the backsplash? And how are you liking your sink? I can't remember what it is called but I have done some investigating and wondering about whether the cutting board in sink works in practice. Is the island counter different from the perimeter? ...
You skimped on the details. : )

Love the color of your cabinets and the floor too - great timing for the holidays. Enjoy

Gorgeous! I love your palette. Details please..

Congratulations! I really like your glass display cabinet (I am too messy to have one, but love kitchens that use them) and your floor looks really good too--is that original refinished floor or new wood that you put in? Love the color!

joan2121: yes, pass-through area opens to my family room (or great room, whatever it is called, we don't have a separate living room.)

onedogedie: Thanks for providing the link for others to view. It was late last night when I posted it, so I skipped a lot of details. Here they are:

Cabinets: Brand-Merilat; Style-Somerton Hills Deluxe with plywood sides; Wood/Stain-Sedona (Behind the fancy names, the cabs are just maple wood with cherry finish.)
    Countertop:
island-granite, I don't know what it's called but this is actually the old countertop we have used for the past 7 years. We didn't replace it during this renovation and saved us $1000 right there (it's 3 feet by 7 feet). And it matches beautifully with our new cabs.
perimeter-Corian's witch hazel (private selection). The old perimeter was laminated countertop. Since we decided to keep the old granite island top, our choices were either a color matching the island or a color complementary. Our kids didn't want more granite, "because it's too cold, too shiny". We ended up with the solid surface. It's beautiful, not only looks like marble in the picture, a lot of my friends came to my house thought it is marble when they saw it in person.
Floor: Oak wood. Actually we didn't do anything about the flooring during this renovation. It was re-sanded and stained with glossy finish 7 years ago right after we moved in this house.
Sink: Kohler 33" stage sink - the wood cutting board is one of the many accessories come with the sink.
Pendant light: LBL lighting Mango Coax Nuage
    Backsplash:
field-crema nova marble 2x4 subway tile. Our initial order was crema marfil subway tile which is grey with golden vein, and I thought it would show some continuity from the tile mural. We had to change the tile order at the last minute. But crema nova works very well in our kitchen.
tile mural- I ordered online at: http://www.tilemuralstore.com
    Wall color: creamy yellow

Very nice! I too love that glass cabinet. And I'm sure this backsplash must be nicer than the first one, because it's perfect.

Beautiful! I love the color of your cabinets and I was totally fooled by the Corian also. Enjoy!

Very nice! You really did well on everything you picked out, it's very inviting.

My tear out was just three days after yours and it seems like it's taking forever to get the details finished.

I love your new kitchen, can you share where you got your backsplash tile, was it online? I tried searching for it, but the only place seems to be larger subway, 3 x 6 tile. It goes so well w/your granite, do you recall what granite?
You must be so happy with the results! Congratulations!

This came out fabulous! It is classy and warm. I like your mural behind the stove and how your pulls work with your lovely wood cabs.
Pat yourself on the back that it got done in 7 weeks, despite snafus, and that it looks so nice. BTW - no one would ever guess you had to change your backsplash mid-stream. It looks like it had always been planned this way ;)

    Hi smilie...

Wow! Your Corian fooled me too! I love the new Corian colors that have emerged. You've got the look of marble, but not the worry. And that's great that you re-used your granite...

It all looks very, very lovely..Enjoy..

What a great transformation. Your BS looks just great! I can't believe it was a last-minute fill-in. Stroke of genius! Everything goes together so well. It looks worth the wait to me even if it was longer than you expected. Enjoy your beautiful kitchen during the holidays! Congrats!

Very lovely kitchen, and thank you for providing the details. I myself am currently debating between 2x4 and 3x6 backspash tiles, so seeing yours is timely and helps me make up my mind. 2x4 it is! Enjoy your kitchen!

nessie1020: Our GC recommended the vendors of tiles, and he also have the samples in his showroom. I picked the material/color/size, and he handled the ordering for me. The manufacture is Olympia Tile in Canada: http://www.olympiatile.com/products/natural_stone/marble.html

    Thanks everyone!

Looks fantastic! It's great to see the witch hazel corian installed in a kitchen instead of a 1x1 sample...looks like marble! One I am contemplating. Thanks for sharing.

    Now...what's the faucet?

Very nice! I'm so glad you are happy with it, and glad you are done! And, the last-minute backsplash looks great!! Congrats!
