That trim is classic. Painted like that it has a more contemporary feel. What do you want to replace it with?

I would say if you are going to replace it with foam, or mdf or some other kind of trim that is common to building these days you are going to devalue the house somewhat. Depending on the area, it could be as much as the cost to replace it with the original trim. But some areas its not going to matter as much depending on when you sell.

If you decide to get rid of it let a salvage yard take it and resell it. People are always looking for trim to match what was removed from their old homes during past renovations.

Are you crazy?? Leave it alone! It's beautiful, and suits the home better than any " modernized" trim would.

That is the type of trim everyone wants and is better than most new homes. Please keep it as is!
