Birdhouse Bookmark Finished

I have spent about 30 hours from last Saturday through this morning cross-stitching a clematis vine / birdhouse / butterfly bookmark for one of my friend's birthday. I did not have a pattern to go by and just made it up as I went along, but I think it turned out well. I would not mind making more of these bookmarks later in the year if I get slowed down from other projects, as I still have a baby quilt to finish and about a dozen crocheted ribbon bookmarks to make for Christmas gifts for my son to give the teachers and principals at his school.

OH.My.Goodness! This is so cute! What an adorable bookmark. I hope you can reproduce this, since you made it up along the way! 30 hours well spent. As a book reader--I love this bookmark.

Thank you all bunches! This is the largest cross-stitch I have ever completed, in the past I have only completed the 2.5" x 2.5" ones. I have attempted large cross-stitch patterns about 10 years ago and gave up and gave those kits to my Great-Aunt Joan, she does beautiful work. This bookmark project I found a little easier to do since I did not have a pattern to go by so I did not have to do much counting since it was all free-style, that's why I never finished the larger cross-stitch in the past as it was too much counting and I would lose my place and not have the patience for it, I just found all that counting tedious. I did enjoy this bookmark project though and that gives me hope for future cross-stitching projects, so I think I will try to make more of them, taking baby steps here. I also liked that it was a small project so I could complete it in a week's time so it did not become a UFO. So yay! I finished a cross-stitch and it turned out decent! :-) Thank you all for your supportive comments they are most appreciated!

Beautiful Sandra! I find all of the counting tedious too, but I love the finished piece.

Your bookmark is a treasure and I'm sure it will be loved!
