Thanks, guys! Those blue bars used to be the beads of a bracelet. I am not done yet with the edge of the round hole or the thingie where the strings were fastened (where you can see the big silver sun), and I want to do something to indicate strings, I just don't know what yet. And I still have the sides and back to do! Fun, fun!

And those amber glass chunks - are those from Michaels? I bought tons of colors of those suckers, and they sure fill space fast, and I can't tell but those dark ones look like polished rocks from "Romancing the Stone", (and if so, I'll bet they're purple) - that little shop in most malls w/interesting things for mosaics.

So now I have a question. Has anyone ever thought about mosaicing the inside of the hole.? (I am sure it has a technical name, but I'm clueless.) Now I know it would be an utter impracticality so I am not advocating doing it, just wondering if anyone else had ever thought about it.

I think an image w/be nice decoupaged in there, or just a pretty paint - or GOLD metallic paint.

I was thinking of that ball chain stuff (like you use for ceiling fan pulls) as "strings", maybe in different metal colors?

Silva- Im dittoing everything everyone said. Wow that really is cool. Another go with the flow kinda girl huh? It looks fantastic. I want to work free form like that. I need to go to anal anonymous to learn to just go with my things!!!!

I have a tiny guitar (sized for a child) that I have never done because I just don't know what to do with it...maybe I need to change my name to....oh I dont even know what to change my name to!!! Decision making for me is the hardest part of the whole mosaic process...just ignore my ramblings its been a LONG FREAKIN day!!!! Anyhow..your guitar is very awesome.

Very colorful and it's another one of those projects where you can find all kinds of "hidden" treasures when you look at it up close. I love it!!!!

You guys are great; thanks so much for the compliments and comments. I have a good digital camera, a Canon PowerShot, but I don't know how to take good closeups yet! Will try soon, after I grout. The inside of the hole, well, I plan on doing something; don't know what yet, but it can't stay like it is now; I too had thought about decoupaging something pretty in there. I wish the photo did justice to the pick guard; that is dichroic glass and it is gorgeous; the photo doesn't capture the metallic gleam at all. More pics coming; hopefully better ones.

WHAT you only show one picture. :^(( WOW I want to see more of this. Wonderful!!! So colorful. I am so into color. I love it it is so interesting. So much to look at. The horn ,stars, dragon fly, faces,TV?? what is that?. I really like it.

Oh, and the dragonfly. At first I thought it was a butterfly but this morning I see it differently. There are lots of faces/heads in this piece - where'd you get those?

Slow, here's where the heads, mannequin, and funky chicken come from - Metropolitan pattern by Vitromaster, discontinued plates; so expensive and sooo hard to find:

sunshine had a great idea up there doing the inside of the guitar...
...my thought on that was: since the guitar is essentially "ruined" for playing already, what would be the harm in completely slicing the back OFF the thing, mosaic the he]] out of the inside, then re-attach it and do the outside.

Just wanted to mention that there's some of those plates all cut up on eBay right now. Prices are ~30-32 for 100 and 125 tiles. Yes, a little pricey, but for the number of tiles that were in the auctions, it definitely beats the price of the plate at Replacements.com (upwards of $25 for one plate). I think there's definitely more tiles in the auction than you would get out of a single plate.

The seller's shop is CoCoMo's something-or-other if you're interested.

Sunshine, I thought about the inside of the guitar. It looks awful the way it is. Here's my plan: I am going to paint the inside as far as I can reach in all directions in a medium chocolate brown. Then directly down in the hole I will glue a sun-head in medium brown glass that I bought somewhere long ago. It's about That way, the inside will be dark but if someone is nosy and they look closely, they will see the sun-head.

Oh SILVAMAE! Your guitar is realllllyyyyy great! Love all the neat stuff you put on it! I've thought about putting sheet music inside mine, if I can ever find any. Can't wait to see what you do with the rest. Oh, yeah, it will get very heavy by the time you finish grouting....

Oh my gosh, in my last post above, I said It's about ___. And then I forgot to put in the measurements! It's about 4 inches across! (Speaking of the brown glass sun head.)
