    The steel was treated with a hand applied chemical patina. Once dry, it was then sprayed at an auto body shop with three coats of automotive clear coat to protect against fingerprints, dog slobber, etc. It just needs to be dusted and/or wiped with a damp cloth now and again

      Can you please tell me what you applied to the cold rolled steel to give it that finish. I have had steel cut for a fireplace and the fabricator told me it would rust. I've cleaned it off with vinegar to get the oily finish off, but it certainly doesn't look like the picture!

      @ Tracybeebe - Try looking up Sculpt Nouveau. This steel was probably treated using a patina. There are different patinas for hot and cold rolled steel, etc. Get small pieces of material and play with the different patinas till you achieve what you are looking for. After treating, it needs to be sealed and it will not rust.

      The steel was attached to plywood sheathing using a 3M construction adhesive-the exact type I cannot remember.
