Wall space help!

We've just moved and now that the couch is here, I'm not sure what to do with all the wall behind the sectional. There's a window on the back wall, which is a focal wall coming in from the garage and kitchen. The other wall is opposite the TV and fireplace. I was thinking a clock, or metal piece on the wall with the window with perhaps something else? And the other wall maybe ledges with pictures and stuff? We spend most of our time I this space.
Probably not a mirror on either wall because it would reflect the kitchen or TV.
Also, we will eventually change the paint to a more grey/griege color as I can't stand this one.
We will also get a rug. It's just been a process of picking everything out.

Heavens, how come art is not the first thing people think of when they decorate a room? Whatever goes on the walls should be something you'd like to look at every day, something that makes you smile, that brings color and life to the room. I don't think that's a clock.

Two large pieces of artwork would help dress up the walls.

Getting some curtains up or other window treatment would help it look less stark. A large picture, or maybe several smaller ones grouped together on the walls would be nice.

A lot of people would pick the rug next since its pattern/colors will help set the tone for everything else. I'd also suggest adding another floor lamp on that angled wall where you currently have what looks like a wicker hamper or low table, to balance the one at the other end of the sectional and make it possible to have some cozy lighting without using a ceiling light. Then, based on the rug, pick an accent color and move on to wall hangings. Pick any window fabrics after that, then paint colors last. With the wall stuff, you want to make sure it's BIG enough -- if you have a number of smaller pictures and decorative items (or books!), I like your shelf idea to display them, which can make a visually larger piece of decor out of numerous ones that alone could be too small. What about two sets of hanging shelves on that long wall, with some artwork in the middle and some more artwork above sofa on window wall?

Art on one wall, picture ledges on the other, coffee table with legs to open up the room, lighter walls, ivory rug, and perhaps most important...the boob light must go.

Only thing I would change of your design is to switch the tall paintings to the other wall and shelves to wall with drapes. the shelves seem "lost" on the long wall.

Yes indeed, about "boob light" --! Grover, I envy your photoshop skills, when I run out of things to do I swear I'll learn. For this matter, though, I still vote a pair of shelf sets on the long wall, one on either side with art in middle. I think they need to look more substantial than what's showing here... maybe having sides wd help?
