Dining room table

I need your opinion: the picture shows my current kitchen table (excuse the mess). I'm going to purchase the farmhouse table from world market but I can't decide if i want a black finish or wood! Eventually I'll be changing the cabinets to white and the counters to quartz. There is a lot of natural light in the space. Please let me know your thoughts!

Personally, I like the natual wood finish for a harvest table particularly, but when you update your kitchen if you will be going with black countertops, then the black. In looking at pictures to get a feel for a black table, I couldn't find one; perhaps it's because harvest tables feel natural and earthy and the black may be a bit harsher? As well, since it looks like you have an open concept, consider the wood tones in the other section.

I like the black...especially with the white chairs. Your rug could also be one size larger.

Be aware that that stringer on the bottom will be an inconvenience for chairs and will get lots of damage from playing footsie with it. Here is a similar look without it.

I agree with Maureen....go with what would complement the color of your future kitchen counters the best.
Also, what color are the (wood) finishes in the adjacent room? I would probably take that into consideration as well prior to deciding.
Btw, love the look of your chairs and especially the mix of the modern with a more traditional style table. Best of luck with your space!

if you are planning to push chairs in at the end of the table make sure they fit between those legs, too. the feet look pretty beefy. we just got a beautiful split pedestal dining table and discovered a chair cant be pushed in on the side between the 2 sides of the pedestal when it's only open one leaf, which is the size we want it to be all the time. ferocious grumble.

Thank you for the ideas, all. Here are the other wood finishes. Most are dark espresso, but the coffee table in the adjacent room is rustic reclaimed wood. Still can't decide on the wood or black finish. Help!

Black. I feel it would provide nice contrast to the floor and kitchen and go with your home better.

It look like your dining table is black(?). Try it in place of your other table to see if you like the color there.
