rugs with rubber or polyester on vinyl if rug pad is the right materi

Bought beautiful vinyl flooring for entire house without realizing how particular I would have to be with rugs. Manufacturer says no treated latex or solid rubber backed mats. does that mean that if I get a rug pad that's the right material,I can choose any rug no matter the backing?

I purchased 100% soybean oil rug pads (Eco-stay) from westelm.com. These pads are identical to anchor grip from RUGSPADUSA but they are more affordable. The only drawback is that these pads are not customized to fit. You may have to cut them yourself which will allow you to come closer to the edge, if that is your preference.

Thanks, HU-468176213. I'll look into those.

I bought several from RUG PAD USA I called and spoke to them and the operator gave me a discount code.

I love the anchor grip. I have 3 cats and they run over the area rugs and they don't move.

I first used MOHAWK PVC coated rug pad as was instructed by the manufacturer CORTEC US FLOORS for my LVP and it left waffle imprints under EVERY area rug only after a few hours. That I can't get off. Manufacturer is blaming MOHAWK. I filed a claim but US FLOORS denied it saying I can strip my LVP and then reseal it. Installer, CARPET WISE in Colorado is of NO help.

Arre polypropylene or vinyl backed rugs safe for lvp or vinyl floors? It seems like almost all doormats are rubber. I've read other sources that say all natural rubber is ok, but that seems questionable with the potential of plasticizers.

    I have Paradigm.

I was advised by Flooret not to use rubber. I have the RugPads and am now glad I did. One "natural" rug near an entrance that gets some wet/damp shoes bled (spots) into the RugPad. Glad my floors did not get marked up.

I too am curious about polypropylene rugs and whether they are safe for vinyl. Just installed Coretec Vinyl and would hate to get the wrong kind of rug. I had no idea it would be this difficult getting an area rug that won’t mess up my new floors. Ugh!

    Same question as Christina C!

    https://www.everydaycheapskate.com/home-and-family/ask-me-anything-vinyl-floor-care-healthy-5-min-bread-stubborn-water-spots/

According to this article, polypropylene is safe for vinyl. I'd like to see this in more than one place before trying! All of my rugs have polypropylene backing.

cervamal what are you using as a boot tray on the lvt floor? I am in need of something to put my dog's bowls on and am afraid that the rubber/plastic mats will harm the floor.

And are you using the vinyl backed rugs on the LVP? Vinyl won't harm them?

I think this is the boot tray I have: https://www.target.com/p/2-x15-all-weather-boot-tray-with-water-resistant-plastic-utility-shoe-mat-for-indoor-and-outdoor-black-stalwart/-/A-54334043

It's polypropylene which, AFAIK, is safe.

No, I don't use vinyl backed rugs.

I just found this thread and I am in the same boat. Brand new Shaw LVT in most of the house and now I can't find rugs for the kitchen and back door! Shaw is useless and only says use PVC...but I have not found them. They refer to Rugpadusa and anchor grip but if you look on Amazon, the reviews are very mixed. Does anyone have a solution yet? Any feedback is most welcome

On Cortec LV, if I use an area rug that has a latex backing (almost all of them do)( but is the latex behind some type of fabric material?) and if I use a rug pad, what about the small perimeter of rug that is not protected by the rug pad?

I spoke with 3 reps at CORTEC they said no latex.

They told me to use PVC rug pads from Bed bath and beyond not Walmart or target, by Mohawk which we did and it left waffle imprints under EVERY rugpad. When I tried to file a claim it was denied. They said it could be stripped which another rep said "you can't do that!"

So I'm left with waffle prints.

Was then told to only use RUGPAD USA. We got the anchor grip and they do work but are EXPENSIVE.

If you call RUGPAD USA directly instead of Amazon ask for any kind of discount as we put this crap upstairs and downstairs. They actually did offer first time customer discount.

Wish I knew then what I know now. I'd NEVER put this crap in my house.

Yikes! What are you going to do? So far, I have put down rag rugs in the kitchen and an unlined, unpadded carpets down. The runners slip, but have not left marks. The rag rugs have not caused any discoloration. There is no fading yet under the living room rug, but it is not very sunny. Don't know what I will do the next time I do floors. I have not minded how easy clean up has been in the kitchen and bathroom, but it does cut easily if anything metal is dropped.

Nothing I can do. Interesting Cortec reps dont even give out same info. Was told to use vinagar by one the other 2 said no it will remove finish.

If I was rich I'd rip this stuff out and go back to carpet. At least I can vacuum and be done.

With LVP its swiffer or vacuum then looks like it needs mopped every day. This craps to much work. My neighbor with real hardwood dont work this hard on her floors and hers is even dark.

Only good this about this product, it does hold up to our 3 NON DECLAWED cats. Year later no scratches on floor.

Oh we even did our stairway. That's a nightmare to clean. Hands and knees cleaning for mopping.

I understand this is a very old thread. We just installed LVP flooring on main floor and am a bit overwhelmed about the no rubber etc restrictions. Anyway, we've found some wool rugs on FB marketplace and have ordered rug pads from rugpads usa so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope I like the orecit-i think it will be fine. Josh was very helpful in the rug pad selection process. So, I'm curious to know if anyone with these floors have ordered the propylene backed area rugs from Wayfair birchlane etc. I would put a pad under it of course but does anyone have experience with the propylene backing and scratching of their floors? Also any recommendations on runners or mats for the kitchen. Please let me know your experiences as it's been difficult to find accurate info on this whole problem 😆

    Sorry for the typos above.

I have only put cotton reversible washable rugs down in my kitchen. Probably not the safest, but they do not mark the floor, I can flip them, and I can throw them in the washing machine. I bought a similar rug and put it at the back door to try to prevent some tracking in by the dog. Not great but it has left no marks, damage or fading and is washable.

Mearnhart, how’s it been with the rug pads from rugpads USA and the propylene rug? Any problems?

I have rugpadUSA and they are great!!!

Unfortunately I used in a few places the ones the installers recommended and it left the waffle print on flooring. There recommended ones from lowes or home depot.

Rugpad USA has specials if you call and ask also. They wipe off great and leave no staining! We did our whole house in the LVP crap, upstairs, main floor and stairways so have lots of area rugs. So after spending so much money on flooring we decided these rug pads were worth the extra money to keep floor nice.

It helps if people remove their shoes and use a boot tray at the entrance. We are so destructive to our flooring bringing in all the grit, spit, dirt, tar, leaf mold and germs on our shoes into out homes.

We don't wear shoes in our house even when we had carpet. Still have issues.

If you go barefoot on this stuff you see foot prints. Even with socks.

The flooring is a medium to light color. You still have to swiffer or vacuum it everyday. 30 minutes later you can see dust again.

But it still has a haze you can never get off. LVP is basically crap.

Which product do you have? That hasn't been my experience at all.

I have two different LVPs, one with faux wood grain texture and one that's smooth. The textured one is much better about not showing footprints.

I've never seen a haze. Have you tried a specialty LVP cleaner? I can check what mine is if you'd like.

The rugpadsusa rugs made for LVP have been great! We have wool and cotton rugs though. We haven't tried other propylene rugs. We chose the natural fiber rugs to be safe and I highly rec the pads. The anchor grip ones really hold our entry rugs down. Very happy with them!

I have Cortec Plus LVP. It isn't smooth it has some texture that was suppose to cut down on footprints.

We've tried everything from cleaners they recommended to warm water. It still leaves streaks and haze. One option they offered was I could buff it down and reseal. I said uh no as this is why I bought this to avoid having to do that.

We are making one of our rooms a temporary home gym (weight bench, dumbbells, dumbbell rack, etc). We have coretec calypso oak on the floor. I want to protect the floor from the weights but am afraid of the gym floor pads marking it up. Also, I think the weight benches we are looking at have rubber feet. Any suggestions or thoughts on how I can safely do this?

We had to buy EXPENSIVE rug pads from RUG PAD USA. Then area rugs on top with no rubber backing. We were warned heavy things like that can leave dents in the flooring. We tried other rug pads suggested by Cortec from Bed bath and beyond but it left waffle prints on our flooring we can't remove.

Just installed Karastan Vinyl Planks. Karastan brochure :” Do not use rubber pads.” I got the Karastan pads which are synthetic vinyl. Dealer charged me $ 1.50 square foot, cut to any size. Even got 18 inch round pads to go under my heavy pedestal stools.

I can’t understand all the confusion. Go to a high end dealer and get the right pads. My dealer sells Karastan and super expensive flooring. My cost for custom cut Karastan pads was less than online sellers for the smaller sizes, and about the same for the larger sizes. I put the pads under two LL Bean entry mats, and under four Karastan rugs, I ordered off the Karastan Kiosk.

I contacted RugPadUSA about their Anchor Grip rug pads because it says out of stock. They said they are out of stock indefinitely! Does anyone know where to get something similar to the anchor grip rug pad? Someone here said WestElm but I wasn't sure if anyone had experience with the West Elm rug pad and their vinyl plank flooring. If it left any sort of waffle print or staining. I really wish now I knew how hard it would be to ensure I don't stain or mess up my vinyl flooring!

Update: rug pads USA are the bomb..I've had zero issue with the pads and the floors..they work great..I'm very pleased. Worth it! .so sorry they're out of stock. The anchor grip pads are amazing..I have two! They do not move it's amazing! I've also used some just cotton rugs as scatter rugs and no issues.

Rugpad Nation says they have rug pads specifically for LVP. You can search their website for the type of flooring. The reviews are good! I have also bought a pad from IKEA but have not tried it yet.

Rug pad USA says they have discontinued their anchor grip and won't be offering it anymore. I went with the GripCore Platinum from Rugpad Nation. It's been working so great I bought another one. They don't custom cut, but I easily trimmed it for how I wanted it.

Houston TX has The Great Rug Company where we purchased a rug. They gave me contact info for Daltonian who supplies them with a mechanically frothed polyurethane pad. I talked to Gary at Daltonian and he says this pad will breath, does not leach chemicals and won't discolor. They've made it for 28 years and it is safe for LVP. It's not skid proof but does a reasonably good job of staying in place under a front door rug. In my living area where the rug & pad is anchored by furniture it works fine.

Who knew there would be so many issues with LVP. I’m in the same boat. Can’t use any of my memory foam rugs. I’m assuming a rubber boot tray is out of the question too.

Core Tech Floors by Shaw are the biggest rip off ever! I wish I could rip these floors out. They are awful. Rug Pad USA has been great. Josh is wonderful, the anchor grip rug pad offered at Rug Pad USA will not damage the floors but they have to be from Rug Pad USA, there are so many out there with the same name but they are not the same. The anchor grip will no longer be offered there as the manufacturer does not make it anymore! Don't know what to do in future

Holy Cow! No Anchor Grip rug pads?! This is lousy news. We love our LVF from Republic Flooring, but need to buy compatible rug pads. What to do?

Good morning I have LVP Flooring and I just purchased this soft Polyester Pile-Recycled Cotton Backing Powerloom Woven -Long Lasting -Stain Resistant . Will this rug damage my floor Or can I Use A Rug Pad?

It depends on the backing. It needs to not be latex.

Ok Thank you so Much it’s not Latex !

Oh are you saying the Rugpad doesn’t need to be Latex and I need to use a Rugpad with this Rug ?

Can you use ruggable washable rugs with their rug pads? They claim you can -- but can you???

    I have same problems

I know this is a long thread, but has anyone found a solution for what to put under pet bowls that wont stain the floor? All the mats I see have a rubber backing. Any suggestions would be awesome

We only have one cat (although he's over 20 lbs.). We use a serving tray from IKEA. It's sort of a milky white color - not sure of the material, but it doesn't leave any marks on our hardwood.

SMULA tray, transparent, 52x35 cm (20x14") - IKEA
