I'm considering converting my existing wood burning fireplace to a natural gas fireplace. I'd also like to make it a pass through. Is this possible? It is the original brick chimney which separates our family room from a side screened porch. We are converting the screened porch to a sunroom and I was thinking if we convert the fireplace to a pass through it could be a heat source for both the family room and the sunroom. Are there any engineers out there who can tell me if this is structurally feasible at a reasonable cost?
