Have you considered putting the couch facing the fireplace?

I have but we're not quite ready to mount the TV on the fireplace. Im also not much of a fan watching tv from an angle either if we place it in the corner. Ahhhh #newhome dilemmas!

Tricky, that couch lends itself to a hide rug, not sure about either blue rugs, don't know if it needs some lighter colours in it. I can see where you are coming from with making it flow a hide rug would be fine, if you are into them, very eclectic, your home is lovely, some pics to consider or confuse you lol

Put hide rug in front of chesterfield and try the other one in other room

How far is the livingroom? Where is the hide rug ,i cant see it?

I really like the look of a light rug when you have a light fireplace.

Only reason why I avoided a light colored rug is because the family room is such a high traffic area and I wanted to not worry about future spills and stains.

With that being said, I'm definitely open to trying out a cowhide rug and shifting some things around. So stay tuned! I'll post pics soon :)

Since there's only room for a breakfast nook, I turned the front room into a living/dining room combo. It's situated directly to the left of the entry way. Then once you turn to the right you'll see the
breakfast nook and family room with the fireplace.

So I tried ALL of your suggestions (cowhide rug, switching rugs from the other room, etc.) and wanted to show you the final rug of choice...

A jute chenille combo in a larger size! I listened to all your recs despite my personal preference and ended up loving your suggestions of going with a lighter rug. Thank you again!

Ps I have a wooden starburst mirror being shipped and plan to stain the coffee table darker to contrast w the rug. :)
