Is it the trend to paint trim the same color as the walls, not white?

The walls of my new townhome are being painted "First Star," by Sherwin Williams and so are all the cabinets and trim. Is this the trend or would it be better to paint the trim a soft white not a bright white? Furnishings will be traditional.

I like trim in a bright white. Typically, more white than the wall color.

Go with what you prefer unless you're renting and can't change it.

I would paint trim white, it is quite traditional.

Trim in white. I have recently seen in in a darker shade of the color of the walls, but not the exact same color.

Painting your trim in white will give you a nice crisp look, but sometimes for a more contemporary look people paint the wall and trim the same colour. Do what you prefer and how you want your home to look.

My trim is creamy white, but then I'm a carmel/cream/ivory fanatic. If you prefer icy blues, cool greys, then pure white would be best. It's really too personal to make the choice for another. Good luck!

A little late here but I've been hashing over the same thing. I'm realizing minimalist modern styles might trend all the same color while historical, classic looks, or looks that want to add some dimension, use contrasting trim and wall colors. Usually lighter trim.
