Here is a brown knob!

I used all pulls and really like the way they look. But that's because I installed them all horizontally, even on the upper doors. The stiles (?) on my cabinet fronts are 3 1/2", so a pull fits in the middle of them stylistically. With the narrower stiles, it does seem like knobs might look better. And I like the placement shown in horselover222's photo, not in the very corner, but up the side a bit.

Two factors would influence my choices in this situation: first, you have a fair number of cabinets - so whatever you do, you're going to see a lot of it. The longer the pull, the more of those vertical lines will appear. So a shorter pull, or having it broken up by using both knobs and pulls would be a solution. The other factor, if you use dark pulls on white cabinets, they really stand out. I prefer a light metallic color, either silver, gold or some tone between. I know, "gold!" but they are showing up in a lot of high-end kitchens. Don't settle for off the shelf options at a home improvement store - check places like Cool Knobs and Pulls.com or HardwareHut.com for something more unusual. Anthropologie has interesting pulls too but they're a little pricey if you need a big quantity.

I'm just not sure what will look best/most modern with the 42" cabinets. The brown knobs are pretty and might look nice with the "mushroom" colored quartz counters. The appliances and faucet are stainless though.

Lovely kitchen. I would go w/ the long pulls in whatever finish your faucet is. Metals do not have to match anymore. I don't know why. I think your choice will stay within the modern style of your beautiful new kitchen. What is your countertop? Will you be installing backsplash? Whatever be sure to install under cabinet LED lighting. Economical, runs cool, lasts for 20,000 hours. Check Ikea. Have fun with your colors too for accessories.

I was thinking of something like this all the way around in a 5" bit PaintColorHelp does make a good point, there's a lot of vertical lines in a small space.

Of course I type so slow that I got my answers before I hit 'submit'. That's service, huh? I love the choice you made w/ the countertop. You won't be sorry. You could put up blue tape the size of the pulls you pick for the cabinets & drawers to get a visual prior to choosing. It really helps & you will not want to make the wrong choice. You will be using them a lot. I cannot understand it when people leave their kitchen w/o hardware.

I like those, but try the tape before you buy them.

It's nice to hear you like the kitchen Sandradclark, thank you! It's been a long road rebuilding after a fire destroyed the whole house and I've had to make a LOT of decisions all at once. The back splash will be my next undertaking and any suggestions for it would be appreciated as well. The counter is Wild Rice Ceasarstone quartz. You can't see it in the picture but there is a stone fireplace within view of the kitchen.

BETH2M - I would definitely go for a brushed nickel pull - it will go with your stainless appliances and won't be as distracting as a dark pull or knob. You have a lot of cabs and the dark hardware will show up as dots and bars on a white background.. Below Pic 1 and 1 show the difference between nickel and bronze pulls - amazing!
I don't know how wide your stiles are, but if they're not wide enough for a long handle type then a "T" shaped handle will give you a pull look rather than a knob look - See pics 2 and 3.

I recently redid my kitchen after 17 years and I used pulls and I am very pleased
I think the biggest downside to knobs is if you have small children or a man from Mars they don't typically wash there hands as often as people working in the kitchen and what you will notice over time is the finish around the knob looking more worn than that around pulls. This was one of the things I hated about my old kitchen the wear around the knobs.

Ward Designs..my cabinets are almost identical to the ones in your picture on the left and it looks like the same faucet I have in there now too. I really like that look. Are they the brushed nickel steel 5" bar pulls?

You have been through too much. I do know about making decisions being stressful. When I was working I was given the task of project manager in designing & over seeing the construction of our computer room. This was for a very large bank service center. This was not part of my job description, however I loved design & architecture anyway. The point I'm having trouble making is that at the very same time period I was handling an apartment design & build in my home for my parents and making all of the decisions for both places just about drove me mad. If you are very detail oriented as I think you are you really have my empathy.

I like your choice, but I think that they will be overwhelming for the space if it were my kitchen. I tend to be a minimalist when it comes cabinet door hard ware. I like the shape of the pulls that you have selected. They will not catch on clothing, which is a pet peeve of mine. Also, I would check the depth of the pulls. Do they feel comfortable. Also check to make sure that their size does not interfere / impact the functionality of the adjacent cabinets. i always favor polished nickel or chrome over other options. i do think a lighter colored metal will make them appear less obtrusive. Generally you would use knobs on doors and handles on drawers. With stainless appliances, sink and faucet, and white cabinets, I would opt for brushed nickle in a simple style that is pleasing to your eye. Less is usually more.

Beth2em - yes they are - and if you want a more modern feel - don't mix knobs and pulls.

Sandradclark- sounds like you understand my plight and you are so right, I am VERY detailed oriented. I'll post some pics when I've installed them and then on to the back splash and furnishings!

I have still not put handles on the cabinets but have found a simple curved brushed stainless one that matches handles on the appliances. I know the cabinets look white in the photos but they are actually a very light gray. Unfortunately, when I picked the color for the paint on the walls I thought it would look darker than the cabinets but as it turned out, I couldn't have matched them more exactly if I tried. It almost looks like the whole downstairs was spray painted the same color!

Nice simple handle - I say go for it!
