No whites in a small kitchen: Is it possible?

Our kitchen is pretty small: 2.7 to 2.48 m (it's about 8'9'' to 8'1''). Now it looks something like this. I'm bored with those teal counters and I want to change the colours completely. Also, I feel a lack of storage space(we don't have any more place for a separate pantry) and I want to increase it. I want to make the kitchen look not so small, but every solution I see offers white walls and counters. I cook a lot. I mean, A LOT. And this includes some smoke sometimes. I am afraid that white walls mean lots of cleaning, and I don't have much time to spend it on that. So I want to find a colour scheme that don't include white walls or counters yet makes my kitchen look not as tiny as it really is. Any ideas?

Small doesn't have to be boring. Pick your main color first, or live with it if it is the floor, and work from there. Some of the cutest and hard-working kitchens I have ever seen were just bursting with color and life. Look on Houzz under "small bright kitchens."

No you do not need to include white! Bright colors will help open the space. Do invest in a really good exterior-venting hood though. Nothing like smoke to make your kitchen feel microscopic.

going with a monochromatic color scheme will make the kitchen appear larger. I would avoid a floor that has any grout lines and it sounds like you might like a linoleum floor. A quartz counter top will take lots of abuse and clean up nicely.. Also, i make backsplash out of quartz and have it run up the wall to bottom of the upper cabinets. As for the cabinets, I think laminate will be easier to keep than a painted surface.

greenfish1234 installing a good hood is number one in my to-do list for the kitchen, I just still don't believe there can be one to rid me of it completely
