Cozy feel is not white blinds. I like a plain roman with a nice nubby fabric - get top down / bottom up so you can have privacy and good light .. but woven woods would be great here to repeat the wood tones on the floor and trunk.

Congrats on your first home! Picking out window treatments can be such a challenge! I think a patterned roman would be really chic, although white blinds are classic. I would recommend booking a free in-home consultation with a window treatments expert. Here are a few places that will come out to your house: Macy's, Home Depot and Decorview.com.

Are you interested in having the door match the windows? I like the idea of woven wood a lot.

What about plantation shutters? They can make them in all different widths and colors.

I like the look of woven woods but white wood blinds will give you both light and privacy when they are down if that is an issue. You aren't going to get privacy from woven woods when they are up.

Plantation shutter in a wider width will definitely make the room look richer.

Depends on the functionality you want. shades are more decorative, blinds more functional. is privacy an issue. will the treatments be open for most of the day or closed?

Though the idea of pattern may appeal, multiple shades and their cords may not say cozy so much as messy: I think keeping the look as clean as possible will be more helpful to you, and allow the cozy factor to take the reins in front w fluffier pillows, artwork, a throw, and a richly coloured table lamp.

I like a roman blind in a thick linen for example in a shade similar to your couch. I think with wood blinds, it may just be too much wood and patterned may be more difficult to match up to your rug. One long one may feel less choppy than one on each window.

Thank you all so much for your feedback. The windows are in the back of our home and we would like the treatments for privacy, but do not want to make the room dark. When the leaves are back on our trees we will most likely leave them up.

I think plantation shutters will be too expensive and I'm holding off on the door now too because of cost.

Still can't completely picture what I want - thrown off by the 3 windows right next to each other.

First, do you need to block glaring sun during the day? Do you want filtered sun? Nighttime privacy?

I like cellulars: great insulation, allow filtered light in:

1. I like Grover's idea.

2. Mmmm...woven woods. Yummy.

I have woven woods in the living/dining room. Love them, but for nighttime privacy you will need an independent liner. Built in liner cuts down too much on light during the day. (And I selected the ones I did for maximum light)

And even without the liner, the woods cut down on the light in the room way more than the cellular blinds did that were there before. Just keep that in mind.

Check out Ikea.com for their window coverings. They have many styles, pictures of vignettes for ideas have all sizes, colors and their prices and quality are good.

I love what pcmom1 posted. Also Ikea has a polyester pleated shade that is 3.99 each which may work individually for the windows, depending on how deep the inset is on your window casings. Apply them sideways & fullness holds them in. They also have Velcro fasteners if needed.

Does anyone have a program where they can put gray cellular shades on the windows so I can see the difference??

I don't want to block out all the light and do not need anything for glaring sunlight - just need something up for a little bit of privacy at night when watching tv.

Woven woods are beautiful. And if they will be up during the day and down at night, you could just have them lined to start with. That is cheaper than an independent liner.
