Love the colors inside. On the next one I would recommend doing a little research on historic bungalow colors and the arts and crafts palette. It would add a lot to the curb appeal

Colors aren't for me, but it all looks great. Classy and livable. For the homeowners, please put photographs in the frames (aged of course) whether it be family or what have you..or art work (even hand made). Thank you saving this house. Also, thank you for not stripping it down and then building it back up to something recognizable. Great job!.

What an improvement when you removed the front porch windows and turned it into a front porch again. Reminds me of the home where I grew up. Our front porch was quite wide and deep, and it was the gathering place for the neighborhood friends.

A nice start to the exterior but I wouldn't have posted pictures until it was finished. Needs painting of concrete and steps, a stair rail, house numbers, larger exterior lights and landscaping. Brick on right side looks damaged and could probably be stained to tone in better with the originals. Front door color is a bit too bright for the brick - should have chosen a more grey-ed out shade of red.

I LOVE what you've done! I, at 68, couldn't live w/the colors, but enjoy & admire them in your house. I love you kept the cottage without the windows & created a front porch. Love the living room paint! What color/brand pls? Living room is what the house would have looked like all those yrs ago. Craftsman Style is all about nature. The bedroom/kitchen make you look modern, fun & young! Best to you! Love the extra pics also.

Can you show us your plan? I'd love to add 600 sq ft and don't know how to fit all you included in a remodel. Thx! (If that's possible.)

Thank you so much! Love to know brand and color of living room paint! Also, ignore negative comments, e.g., the ONLY color for trim of a Craftsman House is either natural wood or white. The white looks great! I've been in my '20's neighborhood 43 yrs. I know old houses.

p.s. I have azaleas across each side of my house, dog woods on each end, camellia next to dogwood on outside edges. I think yours would look great w/same plantings. Buy small plants. They'll grow faster and be as tall as large plants in 5 yrs. I also have English boxwood on either side of my front walk. I'd plant your two little shrubs and make them into either round bushes or small Christmas tree shaped. It would be charming! A dream house, outside and in.

I will say that the porch looks so much more inviting & open.

I do wish people would bring back that old slap of a screen door. I'd hate to "have" to have my front door closed 24x7.

Sorry, but the Integrity line of windows only has grilles sandwiched between the two panes of glass. It might photograph well, particularly from straight on, but it doesn't look like the original multi-pane widows it replaced, and it doesn't look right in person: the reflections off the single pane gives the whole thing away. There are better choices for simulated-divided lite windows that put the grilles on the outside of the glass, or, better yet, restore the original windows. This would never fly in a historic overlay zone.

Alan, the Integrity by Marvin offers two different window lines. The All-Ultrex line only offers a grille between glass. However, the project above used the Integrity Wood Ultrex windows with their simulated divided lite grilles. It absolutely mimics the original true divided lite windows, not only in pictures but in person.

Thank you all for the comments. Picture below is a little more recent with landscaping and painted foundation. Our first priority with this undertaking was getting the house livable... After that we spiced up the exterior and added some interior decorations. Please check out all of the pictures from before, during and after in our project gallery. Simulated does not absolutely mimic. Nothing can mimic original wavy glass.

Sorry, but it's a passion as well as a peeve of mine.

Would paint the foundation the same color as the siding to make it disappear, then add foundation plantings.

Painting the foundation the same color as the siding would look silly and make the house look too close to the ground, as if it were sinking. Painting it white differentiates it and pulls out the white moldings-- looks clean and crisp, too. I'm sure they will add foundation plantings.

I am in the process of renovating a historic bungalow. I started with a house that was very livable but needs some work. Having worked on it for about 18 months now I appreciate all that you've done. It looks wonderful. I love the way you opened the porch.

The photos at the link above are more complete and updated. (Please remember we are a door & window company, therefore that was our focus.) This is a millennial couple's first home – their starter home. Their budget was not unlimited therefore projects like painting the foundation and completing the landscaping were added as another phase to the project. Take a look at the link. Wow-- thanks for all the bonus photos! I love the transformation, and especially the kitchen and baths. Love all the paint colors chosen, too. Floors are stunning. This is one exceptionally nice 'starter home.'
