And now that the forums are back, I can report that I now have two healthy baby tuckeroo trees potted, and maybe next year they will be ready to plant out. Pretty pleased, I swear I am the president of the black thumb club.

Sure can. Here are a couple from when they were babies. The smaller one died and I now have another which is similar, with two sprouts... Well I hope I can post more than one at a time, otherwise there will be a series.

Looks like I have a bit of leaf miner there... oops. I couldnt get down low enough but I can say this is about 4-5" tall, now.

It does look like a leaf miner. You want to get rid of that. Otherwise, looks quite good.

All of which reminds me, I need to go give them a drink :) The hot weather is disastrous.. and I've pinched off the leaf with the miner. It has enough now to keep on keeping on. don't really want to use chemicals on a baby plant, which it still is. I'm going to leave it in the small pot until its almost rootbound (what I discovered was that it grows a horrendously LONG root before it even breaks ground... thats why I lost a couple... broke them off). and then it can go in the ground. I'll have to put some kind of fence around it though, the yard guys are bit keen with the whipper snipper. I lost a couple of young lilli pillis a few years back because of that. Oh dear, I'm rambling. Must be time to make dinner :)

A large tin with both ends cut off will work - tap it in with a couple of tent pegs or a bit of strong bent wire.

Thanks, Alison. I think I'm going to wait another year (and may propagate more this year, now I know how!) as the little ones are hibernating and wont be big enough for planting out just yet. I may transplant to larger pots and let them get a bit of height and strength.
