Bob's your Uncle....

Growing up in England, we always said "Bob's your uncle, Charlie's your aunt"! Try to explain that one! Has anyone else heard this version?

Charlie's Aunt was a Broadway play. Someone probably linked the two phrases.

well, there was Princess Charlotte-if she hadn't died, Victoria wouldn't have been Queen....Charlie's a nickname for Charlotte

soooo-Uncle Robert Cecil set Arthur up for life by putting him into a plum governemtn job, and Charlotte, by dying, put Victori on the throne-both definite upswings in fortune that would not have happened except for the actions of Bob and Charlie !

(did you know that I used to make spending money in college by coming up with believable excuses for my suitemates to feed their parents after lost weekends and missed tests and such?) hehehehehe! they didn't pay me-but they did come to me for "stories!"
