Just went through a storm that left 3 foot plus drifts in front of the garage. I keep the X500 in the garage during the winter so I can just open the door and go at the snow. Step in, back out, drift drops, step in again. Drift cutters work no question about it.

I opted for a pair 4 years ago off a Husqvarna blower cause they were reasonably priced and were adjustable for height. . Holes were already there on the JD 44" blower so installation literally took two minutes. Cut gaskets out of a gallon milk jug for between the cutter bars and the blower housing so it wouldn't scratch the paint when I adjusted the height of the bars..

Google the part number they're sold a lot of places.

I've found drift cutters work better if they're leaning forward. That way the snow is cut before falling down to the auger.

I agree, BUT... the holes were already on my blower from the factory that facilitated vertical orientation AND I've used other blowers with drift cutters leaning forward and had some painful interactions with them while moving around the front of the blower clearing snow from a clogged chute.

I chose slightly less effect from the drift cutters preferring no pain.

I find they work well enough when mounted vertically and are infinitely better than no drift cutters.
