This is my first year wintersowing as well, so I'm not an expert, but it's my understanding some herbs and tender annuals need to be sowed later so the heavy winter doesnt kill them.

Johnny Jumpups and Portaluca seed themselves, so they should be fine for now. I was going to wait til March to sow my herbs. I dont know about allysum. Other people say they do it all at once (ie after Dec. 21) and let nature take its course.

The basil and the peppers are kind of tender, I would do those last... closer to spring. I'm not sure on the cilantro. The link below indicates it can be wintersown, but it is kind of fussy to grow without bolting. The other things are fine to sow now I think.

I agree that it would be better to wait on the peppers and basil if you might have below freezing temps.

All the more hardy annuals, like alyssum, will be fine. I have sown them in December. I've only been doing this for three winters. Last year I learned that I could plant my perennials and hardy annuals out several weeks before my last frost date. I think they did much better last year with that treatment.
