I'm in exactly the same situation. My area of Gadsden in 7b, downtown Gadsden is 8a. Somehow I doubt you can draw that fine a line! But as Mason said to Dixon, you have to draw a line somewhere.

Thanks for the cool link! I am squarely in Zone 8a.

I am so ready to start gardening again! The only plants flowering now are winter honeysuckle, Iris unguicularis and Hellebores. Some of my daffodils are putting out buds which, I fear, will be frozen when the temperatures dip.

In the meanwhile, I did two round-robin trades online and I am winter sowing. For the first time I have a winter veggie bed, that I cover with plastic when it freezes. I am growing collards, Pak Choi, cabbages, 3 kinds of onions and garlic. These look healthy but are growing rather slowly. I hope they pick up in spring. I plan to grow many different kinds of vegetables this year and look forward to learning more about vegetable gardening from Kenneth at the spring swap.

Here in Leesburg we're in 7B. Recently moved here and wasn't sure of our zone, this confirms it! Thanks!

According to that particular link, my location was in USDA zone 5b and Plantmaps zone 6a. At the bottom, there was a link to an updated map from 2012, which adjusted the USDA zone to 6a. It's really interesting to see how dramatically the zones have changed from 1990 to 2012.

ETA: I somehow missed that this was in the AL gardening thread!
