Yes - its garden soil mixed with perlite and vermiculite. so far so good....hoping the roots are coming in underneath!

You won't need the vermiculite in the future. You want good drainage, not moisture retention. Sand is another good addition, or grit.

i will want the water retention come summer - i was having trouble keeping up on the watering this last summer with the heat and no AC indoors - i was watering my AVs nearly everyday - they were drying out so fast. I just have to be very sparing in the winter....I cut watering down to once a week or so - i just watered them this weekend and put them outside for a bit, i likely won't be watering these guys again for nearly 2 weeks i think...
