What size container to transplant into

I just purchased an unknown banana plant (labeled Musa sp.) in a 6" pot. The plant has about six leaves on it, with the largest being about 18" long. I have a 15 gallon pot that I wanted to transplant it into before summer hits so that I can grow it outside on my porch. My question is, should I transplant it directly into the 15 gallon container, or should I slowly grade the pot size up over time?
