The plant looks fine, give it MORE Sun. at least 8 hours a day or more. You can clip off the black leaves if they bother you. Leave in a water tray with about an inch of water.

ok more sun. Yeah it still looks fine but the leaves are getting more yellowish-brown (attached photo of it today). But regarding the water, the pot is really a small pot and the height is only around 2.2 inches, would giving it an inch of water be too much?

If the pot is that small keep about half an inch in the tray. VFTs have LONG roots by the way, they want deeper pots. I suggest at re=pot time to use a pot at least 8 inches deep.

I'd keep the tray full of water, it'll suck up as much as it needs. They're swamp plants, so don't worry, you aren't going to drown it.
The colour looks okay, but if it gets worse take it away from direct light and put it on a window sill so the sun has to filter through the glass and is less harsh

And you really don't want your soil staying wet... let it become semi dry before watering it thoroughly. I find the half inch water thing to be just failure waiting to happen..

mold, fungus, ect. ect.
