Patience is something you will need if you are going to grow amaryllis..;-) Your scape pictured above probably won't be out for Christmas, but hopefully for New Year's. Most newly purchased bulbs have more than one scape in them and the second one could emerge at any time, so keep your eyes peeled and your hat on, your bulb looks very healthy!!

I think this looks like a one scape bulb to me. Give it excellent care and you'll likely have two or more scapes next year.
