I don't know what you used to try to keep your fingers warm, but I often use those gloves with bare fingertips that have a mitten flip top when I am using my camera outside. That way I can keep my hands mostly covered when shooting and completely covered when not.

Thanks for the comments. Babs, I didn't use anything on my hands, but I'm looking for those gloves you mentioned. Maybe Santa will bring some.

steve, you might consider sending jpegs of the first and last shots (I agree,Babs, terrific shots!)- to the Development office at TH. Maybe they would want to put the 1st one on a Holiday greeting card, or put the photos in an exhibit of TH in Winter. Nice job, steve! thx for these.

What kind of camera did you use? Lots better than what my iphone can do, I must say.

We just went to Tower Hill tonight. My outdoor photos are nothing compared to Steve's. So I won't even try to post any. The decorated trees inside were beautiful, as usual. The main corridor was a vision in white. Most of the trees were frosted in snow.

My favorite exhibit was this mannequin head with sparkly grass hat.

I'm using a Nikon D7100. It's a DSLR and to be honest it's more camera than I have the skills for. However, I've made it a goal to get better at taking garden photos and to have more control over my camera.

If anyone is looking to get into a DSLR, I would suggest a Nikon 3300 or 5300 or a Canon Rebel T5i. Those are the best entry level DSLRs. BTW, Tower Hill is having a series of photography workshops beginning this month and continuing throughout the year. The first one deals with the basics of getting the correct exposure, and it is for all kinds of digital cameras including the Point and Shoot kind.
