$55?! I suppose, if you could find if for sale, that's all one might say it's worth. But if I had it, I sure wouldn't sell it for that! That's like gold!

I've noticed that there is a special kind of worm that often turns up in decomposing leaves. It's some kind of red worm, only much larger than most red worms. It's EXCEEDINGLY active. If one picks it up, it will literally wiggle into pieces. When its body breaks it lets off a distinct odor. Sand, have you seen these?

I use leaf mold each year and love it. I have a large active worm that lives at the bottom of the pile. Although this time of the year they are not very active or large, I have no idea what type of worm it is.

Looks like an earthworm.When you have a lot of these it is a good sign that the soil is healthy!
