Wow!

In January ..?

It was a record high of 55o on Sunday. A beautiful sunny, blue sky day -- a little cooler -- came along, Monday. I saw the stars last night for the first time in what seems like months! Today was back to overcast and never outta the 30's ... the ground is frozen. Against all reason, I looked to see if there was a green lilac bud. No.

Thats what I thought! I guess the little guys didn't get the memo that it's JANUARY! I have little viola seedlings popping up all around them. The tulips missed the notice that it's too early, too. I thought for sure they were rotted and dead, but are now trying to poke their way through the fallen leaves... I hope they don't get burned by a February freeze.

We didn't quite reach the record (76* in 1888) but, it was awfully nice! Cooler today, and windy, I reckon a storm or at least colder temperatures, are in the making.

Most of my gardening ground is still frozen as well, a good portion of it has a nice layer of ice sitting on top of it. The sod areas though are thaw, through and trough.
