It is a lovely bloom but we would need more pictures of it in different stages to even venture a guess. Pics of the leaves, thorns and the full bush would also help along with any information about how it grows and blooms. Do you have any idea when the previous owner may have planted it?

If you are interested in getting more of them you could try rooting some cuttings of it. Go to the Propagation forum and you'll find lots of information on how to do that.

I have no idea of when the previous owner planted it but the picture above and in this post were from last summer when the plant came back from the roots.

another thing I can think of that might hep in the ID is that the previous owner were not really.... plant collectors... I think they bought every plant from the local Lowes. So, I would disregard any exotic option for sure...

My guess would be a double Knockout shrub rose. They are nearly impossible to kill! They come in the colors of white, red, pink and yellow.

Yep, DKO it is! They're pretty easy to grow and care for so you shouldn't have too much problem keeping them looking beautiful like those pictures! Do not beat yourself up about losing a couple last winter. It was a particularly brutal one and many of us lost roses. I think you've done a great job!

Great job? I did nothing. No pruning, no fertilizing, no watering, no spraying... nothing... That rose is a killer! Hasn't shown any sign of disease either.
