I do feed mine when they are about to grow true leaves. The seeds have an initial store of nutrients to grow cote leaves and roots. Then they would need nutrients. That is what the roots are for. Some starting mixes have some nutrients already but I use my own 5-1-1 mix with no nutrients. So I use MG liquid fertilizer @ 1/3 strength every other time.
