If they do wheat grass juice, get the used mats also since these are really great, especially when starting/re-starting a worms bin to put at the bottom and lining the sides.

I am/was in need of worm food. I went to the feed-store to buy chicken food, and spotted a big pile of VERY wet hay. It gets scraped up off the parking lot. I asked and was told "help yourself". So I backed up the truck, stretched my back, and grabbed a pitchfork. Before I got started, the owner came by with a tractor and loaded me. The pile was HOT! Steam billowed...

It's still in the back of the PU 4 days later. It was 135F yesterday.

Nice Pete, thats another I have been looking into. The feed store we buy most of our chicken feed and quite a lot of hardware from told me awhile back that they give away moldy and broken bales when they have them. Just need to watch for the pile and of course have the truck on that trip but I plan on working that angle too.

Last time we went out there they had half a dozen bales in the pile but we were in the car :(

Otis, will have to mention that to her. We are going to be on a mission of bringing in as much OM as we can over the next several years. Combined with our other efforts, worms, mealworms, chickens and gardens I am gonna say 2020 this will be an oasis in the desert.

We have 2 dozen French Black Copper Marans eggs coming tomorrow that will go into the incubator and 2 dozed Cream Legbars coming next month along with 25 chicks so we will be stepping up the CM game soon.
