I have a problem with a weed (type of grass I think) that grows very rapidly. I don't know what it is or how to treat it.

I have another picture if needed but it grows radially out from the center, looks similar to the surrounding bahiagrass but grows twice as fast. Since it grows both vertically and horizontally, mechanical treatment is not always effective. I have tried herbicides (similar to RoundUp) and it kills the weed but the dead weed remains and does not allow the normal turn to fill in.

It does send up a tassel with seeds if you let it go too long without being cut.
