Cleaner for floors

How do you clean hardwood floors and bathroom tile. What can I use to clean and disinfect??

Both can usually be cleaned with a steam cleaner, though I would check a small, inconspicuous section of the hardwood floors before using it. The trick with hardwood is not to let the steam cleaner sit in one place too long, just as you wouldn't let liquid sit on it too long. Older hardwood floors without a good finish on them may be likely to turn darker with the steam (as they would with any wet product), though the moisture may actually be good for it, causing the wood to swell slightly. I personally like Shark's steam cleaner, which is the best one I've used, but I know there are a number of newer ones on the market. My BFFs and family also use Shark products; they are of consistently good quality. Hope this helps.

I happen to look for something that would be easier for me to clean the wooden floor in our dining room with better results. That's a great advice you gave here, thanks! I think I'll be checking out some steam cleaners next week.

I also have a steam cleaner but I've read contradictory views on using it for hardwood so now I clean with Bona. This is my routine:
    1. Vacuum all floors
    2. Dampen the Bona microfiber mop with water.
    3. Spray Bona on floors and mop.
    4. Get down on my hands and knees and wipe damp floor with clean dry towels.

My whole house has hardwood floors.
I hate cleaning my floors but I love how sparkly and clean they look afterwards. I just cleaned them this evening so glad to get that chore done before the weekend:)

I really don't recommend steam mops/cleaners on hardwood. It damages the wood in a long term use. Clax66's routine is pretty similar with mine so I can say it works. here are some tips to clean stains etc from hardwood.

Thank you for your advice on caring for hardwood floors. Now can you please suggest a cleaner that is best for cleaning the new tile in our bath room and shower floors? I like something that will also disinfect, but our tile man warned us about harsh chemicals ruining the tile.

I use my steam cleaner on both my laminate and tile floors. Cleans the bathroom tiles like a dream, I don't have to use chemicals and it kills most germs. It also has a "glider" that goes over the cleaning cloth to freshen up the few carpets I have. Doesn't really clean them, but does help lift the pile back up, and helps kill dust mites in the rugs.
