The excessive exterior walls and the curved staircase = tremendously expensive.

Multiple bad choices; for example, who'd want to carry groceries -- week after week -- through the library and the entry hall? And people in the courtyard would have a nice view right into the master toilet.

All the cleanup is in the butler pantry, so when you are done with a prep utensil I guess you just toss it and let it ricochet off the door jamb into the dishwasher.

Shouldn't the shower be part of the cabana, not the hall bath?

Actually, I think I could live in it retired. It reminds me of my parents' old winter home in AZ. As long as I get to rearrange the kitchen.

I assume the layout and shape are being driven by the setbacks, slope, and views -- hard to comment meaningfully without that information.

It does look like the traffic level in the library would be too heavy for my preference. How about rather than garage/library hall/library, you do library/garage/library hall? -- that would put the powder room closer to the main living area for guests, and allow the library to become a secluded retreat.

Seeing as they really need to go hand and hand (although I am a little afraid to ask), ow about the elevations.

In that case, the floor plan makes more sense. I feel pretty sure the Romney's don't lug in their own groceries, so the distance from the garage to the kitchen doesn't matter much to them.
