There is such a thing as doggie dementia, but this sounds like it's just an aging bladder.

Probably he's accustomed to going outside first thing & then when he comes back inside, it's always been time for breakfast.

You might withhold fluids after a certain time (more knowledgeable people on the forum will know what time), taking him out as late as possible, etc.

edited to add:

don't know why I didn't think of the simplest, most obvious thing:
when he comes back in, whatever the time, give him a snack & tell him it's time to go back to bed.

Vet! Beagles do get dementia by the way.

I've started to notice restless roaming (during daytime and nighttime) from my ten year old Aussie. It's sad...I know.
Talk to your vet, he could have a urinary tract infection or something causing the behavior you note.

Yes dogs do get dementia!! I don't know anything much about Beagles but if you want to email me I can tell you the name my Siamese cat is on for dementia that is commonly used in dogs.

My husband has AZ and they were giving him meds for it and he ended up with 5 ulcers in his stomach with a blood count of 6. Later a pharmacist told me "no meds have been proven to help with dementia". They are using patients as guinea pigs. My husbands brain was atrophied in one area and nothing can fix that. If it doesn't help humans it won't help pets.

emma, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband.
There are meds that help but I would guess it all depends on the stage of dementia as to how well they work. My DM's best friend was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 4 years ago and meds have been a tremendous help to her.
