Quilting pattern marking problem

I'm trying to use a template to mark the pattern to put the quilting on my quilt. I have tried white, pink, blue quilting marker pencils and air erase marker. Nothing will mark on the fabric.

The quilt squares are a light yellow/tan and the borders are black with tan designs in them.

Is there something else I can use?

I don't remember how to post pics or I would post some.

Maybe powdered chalk? It comes in different colors and you 'pounce' it onto the quilt through a plastic template. I'm thinking a yellow may work for your fabrics.

If that doesn't work, then maybe printing your design onto tissue paper (I use a brand that is sold for quilting that is gold) and then stitch through the paper. You peel it off when you're done.

Those dark/floral fabrics make it tough. Good luck!

I think the tissue paper would be your best bet.

Did you try a thin sliver of soap to mark the floral dark areas?
