New Miele ranges

Miele has come out with a line of kitchen ranges just as I'm renovating -- anyone daring to take the plunge on a new product? Any early thoughts?

Thanks!

I am 99 percent sold on the Miele 48" dual fuel range. It has steam in the big oven and micro/speed cook in the smaller one. The BTUs look sufficient and I love the way it looks. I have seen lots of pics and a video of it,, but have yet to see it in person. I'm hoping to drive into the city next week and check it out. Unless there is something I don't like, we will definitely use it in our remodel.

Looks so much better in person at local dealer and even the besstest in the Miele regional center. We r buiding a mt home and have feel in love with it. Will U het it with griddle? Wolf has better grill but love the lines of Miele and don't need 8 burners.

The stove does need hood, insert, and blower.

We r considering Miele diamond dw as it does crystal wine glasses.

Not sure of ref. need 48 inch so would have to go columns.

I love the coffee system. I do not like cappacinño but I had a great tasting one at the Miele boca Raton (fl) regional center.

In fact we had such a nice time at the center . They are so good answering all questions and so professional. It was well worth the almost 3 hr drive to & from center.

    Good luck

    Would love to hear more

There are a few threads on the appliance forum. I've seen one report on the induction range, but nothing on the DF. We're doing an all-Miele kitchen. Induction cooktop, convection and comb-steam ovens, 36" Fridge, dishwasher and hood.

We are still planning on the Miele 48" DF, but our remodel has been delayed until fall. Hopefully there will be more feedback/reviews before we purchase it.

Julia- thank you so much for your input on the Miele range. There are very few real reviews out there and I have been teetering back and forth on whether I should take a chance on it. A few weeks ago I spoke to an in-store chef at a Williams Sonoma that had the 36" for demonstrations. He was not very positive about it and told me that it has been serviced far too many times. I just showed dh your post and we concluded that we need to change our design to accommodate a range top and wall ovens because every DF range seems to have issues. Fortunately my remodel has been delayed multiple times, which may be a blessing in disguise. I am sad about giving up the Miele because it is so beautiful and my kitchen design was built around the 48". I do hope yours ends up performing well and will be trouble- free.

I had chosen the range for my new home but when we had to change the plans due to cost we went from propane to electric-induction. The new cooktops aren't much more than other brands. I'm glad now I didn't esp with the posts.I am going to get the steam wall and the oven with the chef program. Hope that works well. And warming drawer, and diamond dishwasher.
    Good luck

Julia- what do you think of the burners? Specifically how is the simmer? Have you put the grates in the dw? Also, do you find there is a delay between turning the knob and it lighting? This is something I've heard can be problematic. I'm starting consider range top options.

The burners are fast to heat water, I am not much of a cook, and haven't really tried them, but I think the simmer is fine, I cooked over easy eggs on low and they came out beautifully, much better control than my Thermador, which wasn't bad.

The delay is bizarre, but only for the grill, the rest of the three knobs that are working seem good, but I am guessing the sparking mechanism will need to be replaced, as it it takes a long time for the gas to get to the burners before lighting. For the grill it doesn't start trying to light until the gas gets to the mechanism. I honestly thought it wasn't working because it took so long. My guess is the grill has a better design, but it's spooky, because I feel like I am letting gas into my house, and I don't know if it will spark or not. I haven't had the smell of gas though, so, so far so good.

I wish I had talked to someone at Williams Sonoma before buying. I'm shocked that Miele is putting out an unreliable product, as my washing machine has worked for ten years without many problems, and dishwasher has also been very good. (though reading yelp reviews I guess I am lucky with that)

I don't think I would buy a Miele cooktop, as I think there are much
better options. I would likely buy a Miele oven, but am not sure. Look
up Miele cooktops as I think I have read bad reviews on them. I think most of
the reviews on the ovens have been excellent.

Trove, if you are getting electric induction, than I wouldn't look at my review, I don't know anything Miele and electric induction, but imagine they are better at it than this.

My biggest issue with Miele is their service. They are scheduling out three weeks, and I think sometimes even longer. If I lived in an area that wasn't so long, I might be writing a different review. I think that Miele may be trying to expand into too many markets and appliances too quickly. I must say every service person I have talked to has been professional, and calm headed, while I have not.

Update, after a month of waiting they came and "fixed" the issue but now the knob has lots of give and no precision. They sent me a piece of junk and keep trying to put band-aides on it. If you want pre-broken range, I would say that Miele is your choice.

Sorry you are having so much trouble. I'd like to know how far from service center you are? Do you have other Miele and how r they? Thanks

julia - are you still unhappy with your 48" miele range?

has anyone used the griddle on the miele ranges? would you get this or just go with all burners?

Miele propane 42" cooktop owner here for less than a year. Not impressed. My power burners fight me on staying lit almost all. The. Time. I hope they've changed the design for the ranges' burners.

I am pretty happy with their electric double ovens, though.

I pretty much regret buying this range. The oven blasts me with wet hot air every time I use it. Using the auto setting is always disastrous I can roast a chicken in almost any other oven, but not this one. The grill is absolutely useless.

Julia: We've had our 48" Miele range for 2 months and have had a mostly positive experience so far. The 30" oven performs well and I do not get blasted with wet hot air when I open the door. The speed oven/mw works well, but the mw ocassionally does not function so Miele is coming to look at it on Thursday. The burners have exceptional simmering and the high is powerful enough. The grill works ok, but I am furious that they do not provide a cover for it as promised by my salesperson at Pirch and by Miele.

Melis, Maybe they re-designed the grill and oven. I bought my units a year ago. A grill cover was never a possibility for me. Can you cook a steak without it catching on fire? I never could, and I couldn't turn the grill down low enough to do so.
