Bar stools

I wasn't planning on purchasing new bar stools, and if these don't work I wasn't going to go on a wild search for some, but saw these in person at Target recently and really liked them. - And they've been on my mind. They're a dark charcoal color. (Darker and richer looking than this photo, IMO.) My counter, flooring, and rug have gray in them and we have a tufted ottoman and chair in the LR.

I never wanted backs before because the eat-in chairs are so close everything always seemed to compete.

(If you didn't see the other thread, we'll be getting ss appliances and the backsplash needs painted.)

I was thinking stain the legs or paint them black. I think I like the black idea better.

They're nice, but much bulkier than what you have.
When we debated bar stools, we decided on those that swivel and we're glad we did. Something you might want to consider if you're including backs on the stools.

I just commented on your updated kitchen and now I see this. I think the bar stools are super lovely but I dont think I love them in your kitchen. They are very luxurious looking and very tasteful but I dont think they will add anything to your kitchen.

They're very nice, but I don't think they're a perfect fit for your kitchen. I think they might be tough to keep clean, especially with a toddler around. I don't really like the grey with your other fabrics, and I don't think they're quite as traditional as your other choices. I think you'll find something you like more. It is nice to have backs on barstools, it makes them much more comfortable!

Are those really bar stools? They look like table chairs to me. I'm on a hunt for bar stools, but perhaps I've got a different perception of what bar stools are.

As for using these for your kitchen chairs (in my vernacular), I like them, but also agree that they'd be hard to keep clean. They are pretty, though.

They look comfortable, but not your traditional style :). Keep looking!

If you get something with fabric, I would suggest using some color. Maybe picking up some of the red or cranberry (can't tell the color) in the dining chairs.

I like the ones you already have, except I'd paint them a brighter color.

Having larger seating at the island will limit the island to one side for cooking or using as a buffet.

And little feet love to kick the beadboard while sitting on a bar stool. :)

I like the chairs/stools, but I also don't think they work for your kitchen -- color or style. If what you have is working, don't try to force something new into the equation.

they definitely look more comfortable than your current stools, but are much larger too... do you spend much time sitting at your island? if you do, then I probably would change them out- tho, probably with something smaller than the one you show... buy one, bring it home and see how it looks.
but, if they're only used for gatherings, I would probably leave your stools there... it doesn't look like you have much of an overhang and those stools look deeper than your current stools... they might not look the best when no one is sitting in them...

Ok, I'll forget the tufted Target ones!

The ones I saw were bar stools, but maybe they have them as chairs too? I did a quick image search to find them so maybe I posted the wrong ones.

I sit there once in a while, but not for long periods of time. I'm honestly fine with the ones I have and did consider making them over - to what I'm not sure. They're currently distressed black.

I know you didn't ask, but I think your fixture over the table is a little too high.

I'd go to Target and get them and try them out. If you don't like them, you can just run them right back. I like them.

K9arlene - I agree they're too high. Looking at photos I feel it's about 6" too high, but I can't change that now. Thankfully, I like how it looks IRL.

Gail - That's true. There wouldn't be any shipping hassle.
