I just found this color combination from bluestar Facebook page and Houzz this week. I think this just gorgeous. It is different than what you were envisioning, but it does combine white and stainless. Just so pretty .

It will look fine, in the "olden days" most ranges were white, and most hoods (if there was one) were stainless. This was out of utilitarian, not "designer" concerns, when kitchens were just that... a working room.

I am about to pair a vintage O'Keefe and Merritt white stove with a stainless range hood- and I think it will look great! Another vote for you to go for it.
