It would really help to see the recliner to know which style is better suited. I find the both a bit tailored if your recliner is more casual and the second couch is very specific in its style. Comfort should be a big factor as well. If you were able to show a picture of your recliner and your room, it would help to give advice on what works better or suggestions on what you may want to consider.

To Maureen's comment, adding that there are variations within dark brown and I think of dark red-dish brown, or how dark, etc....so a photo would be best. What else is in your room also.

I do however like #2 sort of mushroom putty, dull, and good with other muted colors like burnt orange/red... maybe it's 'greige'.
