Maybe reddish brown leather, similar to one of the shades on the cows? Nice piece of art, BTW.

i also think going for the aqua range in a couch is a good choice otherwise all dark furniture gets too heavy &, even, depressing. the chairs you chose are so unusual; i've never seen any quite like them before. i did a little searching & found a couch that might work for you ...pic attached... at armenliving.com. the style is called Barrister. & p.s. i, too, love the cow art & love that it's what you're using as your "muse."

I would consider a slip covered couch in white very easy to clean even to spot clean with dogs. I also like the previous poster a blue chesterfield sofa would be fantastic. In any blue however in the peacock it would really brighten up the room and set off the wood tones. Best of luck it looks like a beautiful home.

Your cow picture made me think of this similarly inspired room; although the walls are off white the basic color scheme is similar, and if you cue from the floor rather than the walls you'll get my meaning i think :

Thanks for the suggestions! I love the idea of a bold Aqua sofa, but in practice I worry that I may tire of it and severely limit options in the future. I suppose slip covering is always an options, but I'd like to get a piece that could stand up in several versions of the room over time.

The neutral or mid-gray ideas seem perfect though! I have a great cowhide rug that I'm thinking of using- very neutral without lots of color in it.

Tracey, that is almost the exact color sofa that we went with - and I love it!!

Now I'm on to my next dilemma - Trying to finish off the furniture in the room!

Initially I wanted to do a console table behind the sofa, but I'm thinking it may be a bit busy to add a bunch of additional stuff right there.

Instead I'm leaning towards doing one of the following and would love some thoughts:

Idea 1: Floor lamp (photo attached) to the right of the sofa and round industrial table between the sofa and recliner

Idea 2: Square end table (matching piece to the coffee table) to the right of the sofa with a table lamp (miniature version of the attached floor lamp) and either round table or another square table between the sofa/recliner so no floor lamp.

Idea 3: same as #2 but no table between the sofa/recliner, instead put the floor lamp there or on the other side of the recliner...

Ideas? Thoughts? Just not sure what to do in order to "finish it off"

You've done really well. The room looks good. Love your choices. The two mirrors hung with rope/leather are great. Nice touch.

As a rule, I find that every seat (equals person) needs a table within reach of their chair. Otherwise they are left holding their beverage or putting it on the floor where an animal either licks it or knocks it over.

I prefer the end tables. But if this gives a seat/person a duplicate table surface, I'd exchange the table for the floor lamp. It's a nice lamp, adds height and visual interest.

Do you mind saying what colour you painted the wall behind the couch?

One more thought, do you have a table between the two leather chairs in front of the window?

Just a couple quick questions,

1. do you need the extra lighting in the room or is it purely a decor feature? I love the look of your intended floor lamp but am worried it might disappear against the wall colour.
2. Do you already have the second square table? If you do - are you able to post pics with it in place in your options?

I spy the plant has moved out of the room, am I right in thinking the chairs in the window have a small table that is staying?

the color is SW Van Duke Brown. it is very dark with a greenish hint to it, which I think does an excellent job with all of the honey oak flooring and trim in our home. I'm okay with it because throughout the day this room gets a ton of light, so the dark color helps to absorb some of that and in my opinion doesn't make it feel like a cave.

As for the lighting, we've got tons of that as well - 8 recessed canned lights in our tray ceiling. A lamp would be primarily for looks, although in the evening I like to have a lamp on vs the overheads (the husband would prefer to sit in the dark to the glow of his TV!). I have also considered one with crystals instead of a shade? Not sure yet though.

Yes, you are both right - there is a table for between the leather chairs. It is on order right now, but is the same round industrial crank style one I mentioned previously. As for the square tables, I don't have either yet. Right now I have a glass table the same size sitting between the sofa/recliner as a place holder until I can make up my mind, but that is it.

Get some accent pillows for the chairs/couch with Aqua or whatever other colors you're using. Would really liven it up.
