This Salvia has been popular for years, but has, and still is, sold with different names! For examples:

Salvia grahamii
Salvia microphylla var. grahamii
Salvia microphylla var. neurepia
Salvia microphylla 'Kew Red'
Salvia microphylla 'Newby Hall'

Confused?

My plant has grown to more than 2 metres, I give it a hard prune every Spring. I call it 'Kew Red'.......less to write on a label.

BUT.......still don't know the correct name!!! Great Salvia, nevertheless.

I thought it could probably be salvia micro. var. neurepia at first glance but wasn't sure since I never saw any salvia labelled with this name here.

The Salvia microphylla var neurepia selection I know of has shorter leaves with a fruity scent, somewhat reminiscent of S. dorisiana or S. univerticillata. It also is a tall form, and was collected by Yucca-Do.

I never noticed such a scent on this salvia... Do you believe it could be an other form?
About the leaves, the longest ones could easily reach 5 cm.

There are probably over a hundred different forms of S. microphylla and its hybrids out there by now. A specific form name needs to be reliably attached to each to prevent confusion. S. microphylla v. neurepia is a general term, and was used initially to identify the first distributed collection without further specificity. This is a common situation.

I'm pretty sure the plant I call neurepia and your plant are different.

I do agree... According to your picture it is definitely not the same plant.
