Many people use Chinese ceramic, tall "fish bowls" with black or rosewood bases to make them high enough and to support a glass top table. Any glass company can make a table top for you. Pier 1 used to sell just tops. Don't know if they still do. Sometimes you can find tall urns also at garden centers or pillars used for statuary or driftwood or lacquered roots or logs You can paint inside urns or fill with decorative material. Think outside the box!

Thanks for that suggestion! I was looking at large urns but many were too short to give me the height for dining. I would not have thought of the base attachment. Will jump outside the box, now.
