Fresh picked Lunch

Looks like I just was adopted by the Houzz family, but I miss the old basket of tomatoes picture. It looks like the links in my older posts have been converted and saved on the Houzz server directly instead of my image hosting site. The speed at which pictures load is incredibly fast and we can add multiple pictures, links and videos now without typing html. Looking good so far ... but I like the old one line per thread forum summary better since I could see more threads at a glance!

I'm glad to see your picture of these sliced tomatoes. This format really needs some color ! This is like reading a business letter. Sheesh...

I'm not digging the format, and I lost my screen name *retreats to weep and mourn and wonder how many Cara Rose's can be out there?*

For those who lost their names, go to "edit profile" and change your first name under "Profile Information" and it will show up here. It's how I also added my location and zone to my name. Added a pic in case my explanation wasn't clear (apparently pictures aren't clickable to enlarge them so sorry for the small size).

By the way, those are some nice tomatoes.

    EDIT:

I fixed it .and I got my name back.

Hi everyone! Glad I'm not the only one that made it, and sheesh I was complaining I lost my capital P and C, imagine if it were the whole username! (EDIT: We can edit comments we make with the pencil button, and I just followed Rodney's advice and got my P and C capitalized by editing my profile first name so it is displayed right now) I just saw we can adjust the new display format on the right where it says "Latest Activity", and you can order them however you want (latest response, unanswered, or popularity), and the default is the mostly colorless forum thread listing. There're 3 options for display you can click on and to show threads:

    1) Summary, pretty colorless

    2) With first attached picture (like eBay LOL)

    3) Just the entire thread.

This feels like facebook. I hope the specific threads don't get lost in the general ones with the new integration of popularity, since I find them the most useful for techniques but sometimes only a few people are interested in them, which could tip the forum away from getting expert answers and towards lots of me-too-ing, which is something I'm going to be closely watching. But if we could only imagine what happened to the old GW! We are clearly on a completely brand new set of server computers and the transition happened this morning pretty quietly. Can't help but be impressed. No more advertising, only the expert find a pro buttons on the top of the screen ;-)

I hate that gray arrow-up icon on the right side. And the gray heads.

"I hate that gray arrow-up icon on the right side. And the gray heads."

I tried to replace my gray head with that of a 20 year old and... er, the profile pic just plain does not work. With all the complaining that GW was out of date, now we can complain that it's too up-to-date. Something is definitely missing now, but so is the colic I had in the '40s.

The heads I find to be ugly. Up-to-date and behind-the-times has nothing to do with it. What's that weird picture? It's creepy.

I can't find the gray arrow up icon on the right side! That gray head had to be replaced though! I find them ummmm.... inhuman. Nothing against cowgirls, but I could go for icons place holders in red bow ties or polka dot skirts icons, they save me from walking into the wrong restrooms!

One thing that is missing is the omission of adding Zone numbers. That was a goode feature in the previous format.

Well, can't say I missed Mardi Gras, now everyone in the thread got their real usernames back for the most part. Good idea Seysonn, I just put my zone in my last name for now. It's really hard to tell what's going on with some posts when the zone isn't mentioned.

PC, You know you're just bragging by adding your NICE WARM Zone9a!!!! (LOL)

Ha ha very funny Labs ;-) Here's a ditty dedicated to all those in zone 8 from right over the zone 9 county line:

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

When they're perfect in every way

I wake up to look at muh 'maters

'cause they get better looking each day

I used to have a hound dog

But I guess he just couldn't compete

    With all these plump love-apples

That keep rollin' at my feet

To grow them is to love them

I must be one hell of a fan

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble

But I grow them the best that I can

If you like fresh minnows, I'll make an extra plate, today, Tequila Sunrise Jalapeño chasers in a sea o'fresh maters.

That looks DELISH (except for the minnows {LOL}).

    Loved the poem :-)

The minnows are great with tomatoes. Good source of calcium, and it's just compensation for not growing organically!! ;-) Poem is a parody from Texas' Mac Davis' very successful satirical song more some years back.

Finally made it! I guess my popup blocker was tripping me up. Unusually cruel punishment PC. Supposed to be close to zero here this weekend. Still about a month away from starting seed. Sure looks good though. Congrats!

Welcome back Hoosier ... The bright tomatoes were just to spruce up GW's new home... These still cost $8/lb to grow with (my) unpaid labor. Get revenge in August when the only thing that grows here is the water bill. The growers in Central and South Florida leave me in the dust, Our climate has been like Hilton Head Island, SC this season, nothing like Orlando and Tampa :(
