    I'm here

LanaRoma here. Now I'm Lana_Roma, since I wasn't able to get my old username confirmed. Contacted GW/Houzz directly; they told me my email address was not in their records, although they had sent email notices to it just before merging with Houzz. I asked them to fix the problem and restore my email address. No response. Then I tried to re-register with my previous username, it was taken. Oh well. I'm sure they're too busy fixing other things after the merger.

Having worked as a database manager in the past, I am not surprised about the glitch. Transitioning to a new software platform always was a major pain at my previous company. Things got mixed up or lost, the employees were unhappy and cranky, the bosses freaked out, and the IT folks worked overtime to get the networks functioning tolerably.

Funny, I stayed away from Houzz because I resented their badgering about signing up and interfering with browsing without logging in. I guess the stars were determined to make me a Houzz member! :-)

still not really warming up to it, but I feel a little better now that I have my
old identify back. I just don't find this as easy to get lost in as gardenweb was. I don't want to spend tons of time on here trying to feel comfortable. I am not happy still.

Here trying to acclimate, but finding it difficult. Fortunately my Houzz name and GW are the same.

    testing something out...

Shee - what did you do? On some pictures, if you hover, a new version pops up next to it - not bigger so I have no idea what that's about - and that's happening with your adorable kitty pic above. I'd like to know what makes that second pic apply and what the purpose is since it isn't a larger view. Did you pull that from your computer or did you figure out a way to use a hosting site?

DLM I saw people were able to upload from photobucket and tried it. Here's the thread. thread titled - trying to get a link to work

I did the - click on the photo icon, copy the direct link, and click open. I then deleted the photo in photobucket, but it's still showing. I wanted to see if it would delete, if so my next test was going to see if I could delete one after the week editing comment time period. I think if my pic were larger, hovering would increase the size maybe.

    Check-in, it’s me
jterrilynn! I was going to change my name to Cellophane as it was suiting in
this scenario but decided not to get snarky and give it all some time.

I am here too....finally it took awhile...but I was not going to give up. Thanks to ravencajun....I am Cricketm....I could always count on ravencajun to help us Computer Forum posters....Thank you so much......

Hi GWers! Sapphire69 here. I'm not averse to change, in general, but not crazy about this one and, were I not totally smitten with GW, I would not be here. I have never been a fan of Houzz so the second it begins to feel more like Houzz and less like GW, I'm gone.

Question: Why is the last post (comment) is posted at the bottom....it should at the top like Garden Web had it? Why did Garden Web change.????....I go back with Garden Web when you had to pay $15.00/yr...and love it.....anybody else go back to those times.

Am I here? Had big problem joining and now it seems to have magically happened. Whew! Would miss you all too much. Someone tell me you see this, as doesn't seem real.

I think I'm here. I haven't visited in awhile, so I was taken aback by the BIG change. I guess I missed the notification. I did have a Houzz acct, but I've been trying to change it to my longtime GW name. Guess I won't know if it works until I post this (because it still shows the houzz name up top when I signed in even though I've changed my profile name).

Dang, didn't work. It DID let me change--and it seemed to accept--my old GW name before I posted, but it's not showing up now. I thought I jumped through their hoops. How can we get on with our old names???

Mayberry here - now Mayberrry-moon. Love this community, let's make it work!

tabbaldwin, go to YOUR HOUZZ, choose "edit your profile" and put the name you want to show on GW in the FIRST NAME spot (this is NOT the USER PROFILE spot). You will still have to use your Houzz name (User Profile) for signing into the site, etc. but the First Name will be what shows on your posts.

the_foxes_pad - Very glad you changed back to a name I could recognize!

Holly-Kay - don't you dare change that picture, nice to see you:) Waving to motherof3sons and my other GW friends.

I keep changing my avatar; from family room built-ins, to bold tile, to dog, to...

I'm still feeling disoriented. From PC to ipad to iphone, every experience is a little different.

Hi OB2B, so glad to see you here. Keep your pic as your avatar. I am loving being able to put faces with names.

    I do like that too:)

Zorroslw now zorroslw1 at least for today, hope I don't disappear into the abyss again:/

Finally got here. Had to go to another email account and sign up. Used to be mboston but that name was taken - really? Not sure I like the new format but will give it a chance. Still
looking for some of the members from GW, maybe I missed their new names.

I'm still here, and still "me" (I never had a Houzz account/profile to complicate things I suppose). The new format is taking some getting used to, but the tweaks and changes the powers-that-be have been applying are helping. That, and "seeing" all the familiar "faces" as well!

I do apologize in advance if it takes me awhile to connect the new usernames with their previous monikers!

sewwhatsnew ..I'm here too, I work at Sherwin Williams , so I'm always interested in hearing about your favorite paint colors.

    Wow. I'm in shock.

    Yay! Goldie made it!

golddust I was wondering about you and f you'd make it here or take one look and turn tail!! Good to see you here.

wow, wow wow. I know its been a while since I popped into GW but what the heck!!!! Not sure I like the new digs but, it is still fabulous to see so many familiar names! Hello Everyone!!!!

I'm finally all migrated to my satisfaction, and I'm still cawaps. Because no one else wants to be.

    LOL, cawaps

Here, but probably not for long... just doesn't feel right.

I would encourage everyone to install the Stylish add-on. It gives you the familiar morning glories background and a bigger font. Here's the link to instructions in the Conversations forum.

I was a long time follower on GW. Signed in with Houzz today. Guess I will get use to it. They say change is good.

Thank you mayflowers. I was able to do that and I am about as tech savvy as a block of wood.

The lack of pictures on this "new" home decorating forum is already a problem. I have already asked many posters looking for opinions that I cannot give any without pictures of the space they describe. I realize they don't want to have to download those pics to their device and then upload them permanently to Houzz, because I won't do it myself. But no pictures makes for a very dull forum. I'm very disappointed.

I have solved that problem by taking exceptionally poor quality cell phone pics :)

Another former GW member. On GW I was AntiqueAnnie, I have been a periodic GW member the last couple of years, a few years ago I was a daily visitor, but life got in the way. Anyway, I sas very sad to see GardenWeb forum combined with Houzz.

Last summer I received some wonderful advice on updating the décor in my living room, focused on selling rather than living in the home. The most helpful recommendations translated to all areas of the house, and with a minor décor redo we accepted an offer on our home within 3 days. Anyway, the first escrow fell through due to some personal issues with the buyer's family, took our home the market, for the holidays and we are back in escrow again. So thank you to all my GW helpers.

Late to the party, but now I'm here. Definitely a change, but hopefully we'll all adjust and enjoy :-)

kswl, I was noticing the lack of pictures too. And daisychain joked about using poor quality cell phone photos -- I was browsing in the Advice section of Houzz where many are asking for help to perk up their house exteriors, but most of the pictures are low resolution phone pics. With Houzz limiting to such small photo sizes in addition to the poor resolution, I just couldn't SEE the houses well enough to offer advice. It's hard to see detail and accurate colors and to get a sense of space & depth. It would be really tough to photoshop those pictures, too.

I'm not seeing a limit on photo sizes, but if someone can't be bothered to take a decent photo, I can't be bothered to give them my opinion.

But MayFlowers what if some of us are just bad at taking
pictures? Okay by some of us I mean me.

I don't take cell or tablet photos, but DH informs me that mobile devices have an editting function, so bad photos can be corrected before they're posted.

Thanks, Olychick, for how to get back to my original name (not that it mattered all that much since I haven't been on in so long, but still....)

    mnzinnia checking in.

I was leafy02 on Gardenweb. I was so upset the first time I visited and was sent to Houzz I put my head in the sand and waited for the old forums to come back. It's been a few weeks so I guess that won't be happening...and now I'm knee deep in projects I need help with, so I muddled through and here I am. Great to see so many of the same names. But I hate Houzz.

Hi, It's NewHomeBuilder. I finally found my way here. Had to shorten my user name because it was not recognized. Lot's of people addressed me as NHB, anyway, so it is now nhb22.

I also find this forum "hard on the eyes" to read. However, I received a nice pair of slippers, a measuring tape, and a water bottle in the mail yesterday. They are from Houzz, so I decided to give Houzz a try. ;)

Since everyone seems to be practicing their photo attaching skills with their pets, I'll give it a try, too.

Look how Nola has grown! Well, that didn't work. The little green circle just goes round and round. :(

Hi again. I already checked in but figured I'd mention here I changed my username. (was Sheesharee)

Nhb - Have you tried again? I've had some glitchy stuff happen with photos not wanting to load at times. It seems to fix itself.

Nope, still not working for me. I am trying a direct upload from my computer. Perhaps the photo is too big, but it's no larger a file than what I was putting on GW.

Does anyone know how I can stop getting emails sent about new post?

Go to Your Houzz, your profile, advanced settings to adjust your emails. I'd shoot Houzz an email about the photo upload.

    Thanks!
