Where is this drawer in relation to the cooktop? Downdrafts raise above the counter when in use and lower so they virtually disappear when not in use. They need to be close to and raised above the cooktop to do any good. Even then, the laws of physics are a bit against them as steam rises. If you put it in a drawer, how will the downdraft be close to the burners? And how would it raise high enough above the burners? I'm not a downdraft expert but I guess I don't really understand what you're trying to do. Could you draw a diagram?

Expensive paperweight planning. Downdrafts do not work with nor will they be warranted when used with a range. Cooktops only. And not very well then.

I'm not asking if they work or are warrantied when used with a range I'm asking about the remote location. Does anyone have any input on remote location?

Putting any kind of electrical wiring inside of a functioning drawer is pretty much a no-no from what I remember about folks trying to rig up charging stations inside drawers. All that opening and closing playing havoc with both the wire and the connections. From what I found at wolf this is a 'RJ 45 cable'...not that I even know what that is. But someone else prolly will.

If you're doing fully custom cabinets, perhaps you could design a little niche with a door of some kind to nestle the control in--one where the wiring won't be getting jerked around like it would be in a functioning drawer.

Do yourself a favor and get a real vent hood - downdrafts are virtually useless, especially those that are behind the cooking surface. This is especially true of island and peninsula cooktops/ranges. Check out the Appliances Forum if you want more information.

I know it has been 4 years and you probably aren't watching this thread anymore, but I would love to know what you decided and how it has worked out. I have the same situation and would like to put the downdraft remote somewhere not visible. Any experience you can pass on to me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We have the Wolf 36” Downdraft and mounted the remote on the side of the island under the counter edge.
