Changing the CFMs

My city will only allow a fume hood to draw up to 400CFMs to pass inspection or you have to do something (expensive) to the heating/cooling system. I was told that if we switch out the internal vent to a 4inch diameter, it will fix the problem and reduce the CFMs. Is this true?

    Hi cfreedmanfd,

Yes. You can switch to a smaller vent to reduce the CFM. Another option to reduce CFM is to make more turns on the exhaust pipe.
