A photo of the coleus would be a big help. Can you stake it?

As insurance, or "back up", I took two cuttings from the damaged plant. They rooted quickly in water. (Very gratifying.) I just potted those this past weekend, a mere 2 weeks after the accident. As for the damaged plant, I did repot it. I attempted to straighten it up, gently, so as not to further fracture the connections between stem and roots. I put it under lights, and it still appears healthy, showing no signs of dying off. Keeping my fingers crossed, but it looks like it will be OK to put outside after average last frost date here (March 25) passes. (To be safe, I am going to wait until after April 1.) As a "bonus", I now have three examples of this specimen growing where I only had one before.

As your coleus grows in size and has many more branches, you can purposely take cuttings and root them again. Your growing season may end with your having many multiple specimens of the ones you germinated from seed.

This, indeed, is what I ended up doing, with very good success. Coleus cuttings root like mad in water.
