Okay, talking to Charles, have a couple of thoughts, but need clues to decide which way to go. It is frigid here today, so I am just staying inside. No taking the train into town to visit museums. No hiking through the woods for me today. No healthy anything except getting up from the chair to close the door when the crazy dogs come bounding into the house-every few minutes it seems. Sigh.

Does it involve yoga pants? I suppose not. Frigid here today -- we're at 2°F right now with gusting winds. I just came in from blowing snow and am drinking a nice hot cup of coffee and wrapping my hands around it to warm them up. I don't know if it's my age or what, but I can't find a pair of gloves that keep my hands warm. Even in ski mittens they start to ache way too soon, especially my thumbs, of course, hanging out there all by themselves.

No need to feel too sorry for me, though. I do have a heated cab on my tractor to do the driveway and that is just the cat's meow. Too bad it can't do the walkway, front porch, and back deck.

Enough digression. I'll be needing a clue or two for this one. Wondering if it has to do with food.

Oh, it is cold here!! I went out to do my weekly shopping yesterday and even with wool socks and shoes my feet were like blocks of ice!! I should have worn my boots, and won't make that mistake again.

Work has been hectic this last week. It is Q1 for the new year, and we have new sales campaigns to learn. New habits are hard to learn. Even though my job is technical, not sales based, they expect us to 'share' these offers with customers, as they might be interested!!

Well, clues, let's see: Cynthia mentioned part of it in her first post. This always makes me sort of think of Bing Crosby!!

TM, have you tried putting the foot or hand warmer packets we used to use for skiing? Back in the day, I put the foot warmer ones in my ski mittens, too. Now, I think they have the same thing for hands. Wonderful for keeping your fingers toasty. Your snow picture is so pretty. I am hoping for some this week.

Yikes, Nancy! I have no idea what I said that could be a clue. Thinking, thinking...der Bingle makes me think of a sport, but 1886? Hmmm...

Yes, I would guess oranges from California. Was initially thinking maybe refrigerated train cars to bring fresh produce across the country, but will switch to just an ad campaign to make people want to buy the fruit.

I like oranges for an answer too. In fact I just plain like oranges. We eat a fair number of clementines here, but they all seem to come from South America.

As Anglo-Americans began to assert their control over California, they gradually broke up the large Hispanic ranches and replaced them with a more diversified farming economy. With irrigation, southern California proved an ideal environment for growing many crops, particularly valuable fruits like oranges. During the 1870s and 1880s, state railroad lines linking Los Angeles into the new system of transcontinental railways created additional moneymaking opportunities. Settlers, tourists, and health seekers all boarded trains to travel to the Pacific, where the sunny climate and beautiful scenery promised a new and better life. The healthful new California lifestyle became closely associated in the public mind with the sweet fruits that grew so abundantly in the orchards around Los Angeles. Taking advantage of the rapid transportation capabilities of the transcontinental lines, Los Angeles area orchard owners began shipping their oranges to the East in 1886. On February 14th, to be exact!!
