Dishwasher problems are not the issue at all. The bigger issue is nicks from dropped stuff, especially in front of the frig. I have 10 year old factory finished solid wood flooring and it looks great everywhere but in front of the frig. In my new place, I put in darker wood and a rug in front of frig. The solid surface from room to room is fantastic, so do it but be aware.

This is a weekly question on Houzz. The overwhelming consensus is to put wood floors in your kitchen. They are easier on your feet and any dropped dishes. You cant always plan for the worst or you may never enjoy anything :-)

I say go for the wood and ditch the husband.
